Cherished pet found after four years by Puppy Dog Ranch in New Mexico

Untitled 1

I am writing this blog today to share with you a story that I think that you will find very interesting and heartwarming.  On June 10th, 2009 our dog, a Boxer named Sadie, ran off from our home in Silver City, New Mexico.  My wife Deborah and I spent weeks canvasing local veterinarians, animal hospitals, dog shelters and animal control centers trying to find Sadie.  Additionally, we posted reward notices on just about every utility pole in Silver City, Baynard and other surrounding areas.  Additionally, we promulgated a full page advertisement in the local paper and my wife published a Facebook page in desperate hopes of finding our cherished pet. Unfortunately, all of our previous and exhaustive efforts were in vain, yet we never gave up on finding Sadie.

Yesterday evening, I performed a Google search using the key words, ‘silver city, nm, brindle boxer’.  I cannot begin to tell you how shocked and elated (with emphasis) both my wife and I were when we found a picture of Sadie on the Puppy Dog Ranch web site  that had been posted in February of this year by Laurie West, the owner of Puppy Dog Ranch, 27 Twin Sisters Creek Rd. Arenas Valley, NM 88022. (575-313-7232)  The following is the advertisement we discovered for Nina, AKA Sadie:

February 4, 2013: Nina is a 3-4 year old brindle Boxer who was originally adopted from the local Animal Shelter just three months ago and has since lived a life of deprivation....outside in the cold backyard...on a chain, without a dog house, food, water, love, attention, affection, socialization and exercise (see 3rd pic). After several warnings from the Animal Control Officer, she was relinquished her to the Animal Control Officer in Bayard, NM,, rather than pay her numerous fines (of which she is being taken to court). After a week, Nina officially belonged to the town of Bayard and with good food, she's a few pounds heavier. Nina was given to PDR on Feb. 4, 2013 so that we can find her FURever home. This special girl was literally starving for food and attention, yet she still trusts and accepts people!

As the advertisement promulgates, Sadie endured a rough life after running off from our loving home, but because of the wonderful  self-sacrificing efforts of a wonderful woman who loves dogs, we have found Sadie safe and in good health.  We will be driving up from Galveston, Texas this coming week to bring Sadie back home to us.  Though my wife and I understand that there are many things to write about in your Newspaper, we feel that this story is something everyone should hear about.  Laurie West is a great person who is desperately trying to do the right thing for mistreated and sometimes abandoned pets, who have very few people to stick up for them.  Because of the efforts of Laurie West, our Sadie will be coming back home to two people who love her as much if not more than most people love their children.  I pray that whoever reads this will help Laurie West in her humanitarian efforts by offering their support to her no kill rescue.
